Local tradition says 1603, seventeen years before the Mayflower landed, was the year The Original Trading Post began out of a tent on this site. In business for 400 years, the post with the Spanish ox cart on the roof has always been a landmark on San Francisco Street leading to the Santa Fe Plaza.
