Like many big cities, Durham offers a great variety of pet friendly activities and attractions. But if you’re looking for a couple unexpected pet friendly finds in Durham, we’ve got you covered!
Unexpected Pet Friendly Finds in Durham
First, a visit to Durham wouldn’t be complete without a stroll around Duke University’s beautiful campus! Buster and Ty seem to think they’d make excellent Blue Devils!
Dog Friendly Fearrington Village
Our next stop was pet friendly Fearrington Village near Chapel Hill. Surrounded by farm pastures and modeled after an old English hamlet, the developers created this charming residential community that includes an upscale inn, three restaurants, and stores offering an exceptional range of gifts, home and garden items, apparel, and fresh flowers. There’s even an English garden next to the inn.
At Roost Beer Garden, you can enjoy local beer on tap, wine by the glass, live local music and wood-fired pizza during the spring, summer and fall. All this comes with views of the gardens and grazing belted Galloway cows. Of course, the outside patio is pet friendly.
We opted for a late lunch at The Belted Goat, a casual eatery serving tasty sandwiches, quiches, salads, and desserts.
A Stop at the Dog Park
Next on our agenda was finding an off-leash dog park so Ty and Buster could burn off the lunch calories. Following the advice of a fellow lunch guest, we headed to the Henry Anderson III Community Park in the nearby town of Carrboro. This large, fenced park was just the ticket, with lots of well-behaved dogs having fun.
The only thing lacking was a water spigot. So, if you go, bring plenty of water and bowl.
Coming across unexpected unexpected pet friendly finds in Durham added to the fun we had on this trip. We hope you enjoy the area as much as we did.
