The home of the Grand Canyon is also the land of painted deserts, spiritual vortexes, and ghost towns. With rivers, forests, and mountains, as well as a rich history influenced by the diverse cultures, Arizona is much more than desert and cacti! From Native Americans to the Spanish and the iconic cowboys of the Wild West days, the traditions of the past live on. Whether your pet friendly trip focuses on the state's many national parks, vibrant cities, or outdoor adventures, you’ll find that the majesty of the landscapes and warmth of the people make Arizona a wonderful vacation destination.

Elevation has a big impact on the weather in Arizona. The best time to visit the Phoenix and Tucson areas is November to March when the days are warm, but not hot. Those areas should be avoided in the summer when the heat can make it unsafe to have pets outdoors. Spring and fall are the best times to visit the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and Flagstaff, and traveling in the spring gives you a better chance of catching the desert wildflower bloom.

Seeing the Grand Canyon with your pet will make your Arizona vacation truly unforgettable. Be sure to ask how your pup can become a BARK Ranger during your visit!

There are plenty of dog friendly hiking options among the red rocks in Sedona. Courthouse Butte, Long Canyon, and West Fork are some of our favorite trails!

You won’t find a traditional forest at Petrified Forest National Park in Holbrook. Plan to drive the 28-mile park road, then hike amongst the petrified wood, which is all that's left of this prehistoric rainforest.

Goldfield, an hour east of Phoenix, is a pet friendly ghost town that’s found new life as a living history museum. Tour the gold mine, pan for gold, ride on the narrow gauge railroad, and watch an Old West gunfight in the street with your pet.

Visit the legendary O.K. Corral, ride a stage coach, see a show in the theatre, have a drink at the Four Deuces Saloon and then enjoy lunch or dinner on the dog friendly patio at Café Margarita in Tombstone.

Revel in the beauty of the Sonoran Desert at Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Superior.

Work up an appetite exploring one of the largest urban parks in America at South Mountain Park and Preserve in Phoenix, then stop in at The Farm at South Mountain for breakfast or lunch with your pup.
