The park comprises a maritime forest. The beach is the biggest draw (pets are allowed on the beach off-season), but it's nature trail is also charming.

Pets are allowed on the beaches in this state park with the exception of May 1st thru Sept 15th from 8am to 5pm . (This is a county ordinance that is effective on all public beaches in Horry County.) Pets are allowed in most other outdoor areas of this state park year round, provided they are on a leash not longer than six feet.
