Established in 1966, The Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge was established to protect the habitat of migratory birds. Coastal meadows, tidal sat marsh, barrier dines, and forest upland are just a few elements that make up the unique composition of this Maine destination. Leashed dogs are welcome but must not harass wildlife.
