Six individual tracts of land comprise this forest managed by Duke University. Combined they are more than 7,000 acres offering public recreational activities available include hiking, biking and horseback riding on established roads, as well as fishing and picnicking. In order to protect the research and educational opportunities, all activities are restricted to forest roads, posted trails, and picnic areas and pets must be leashed.
