Founded in 1766, this ironworks plantation was home to more than 500 German ironworkers and their families, and included a furnace, forge, houses, shops, farms, a church, post office/store, and schoolhouses. Operations at the site ceased in 1882, and many of the buildings remain intact or as ruins. Well behaved, leashed pets are welcome to explore the grounds with you.
