A large, stone gristmill was built by George Washington on this site in 1771 to increase production of flour and cornmeal. In 1797, a whiskey distillery was built adjacent to the gristmill. Demonstrations are given in the reconstructed mill and distillery by millers and distillers in period-appropriate attire.
