The park is located at the north end of the barrier island. It is Maryland's only oceanfront state park. Assateague is best known for its free-roaming wild ponies.
Dogs are allowed in the park only in the off-season..

Policy Details
Pets allowed in day use areas after Labor Day to the Friday of Memorial Day weekend. Pets allowed on the Rackliffe Trail on the mainland. They must be on a leash and cleaned up after.
