Take a well-deserved retreat to this adorable Isle La Motte home. The two-bedroom Vermont cottage is right on Lake Champlain on a quiet cul-de-sac and features a wood-burning stove, charcoal grill, deck, and amazing views.

With the lake shore just 20 feet away, you'll want to spend every spare moment wandering the beach in search of fossils, or admiring it from your Adirondack chairs or sliding glass door. However, you'll also feel compelled to explore quaint nearby attractions. You can walk or drive about three miles across Isle La Motte to Saint Anne's Shrine, a serene 13-acre historical site that also has a cafe offering brunch.

This lakeside cottage is a truly terrific retreat for a small family or four friends vacationing together. Stocked with Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, and plenty of relaxing seating, this home is made for the laid-back traveler. Read each other trivia while sipping refreshing ice wines in the tastefully updated family room. Savor a classic flick on the cable-equipped TV as you unwind.

Bring a pack of cards and play at the expandable card table in the sunroom that's smartly decorated with a modern-rustic look and lined with lake-facing windows.

In the charming kitchen you'll have all the tools and appliances needed (many stored behind the gorgeous wood cabinets) to fix family-style meals on those evenings you feel like staying in.

Both bedrooms are easily accessed in this single-level home. In one, you'll have a cozy queen-size bed facing sliding glass doors with total lake views. Whoever nabs this room will be lucky! In the second bedroom you’ll have two twin beds - great for children, two friends, or sweethearts who might want to sneak a snuggle in one bed.

While this home accommodates up to four adults, two additional children (for a maximum occupancy of six), will be comfortable since there's a pull-out sofa. The bathroom contains a walk-in shower, but there's also a simple outdoor shower for after a post-lake swim.

Outside of this rustic, but well-maintained lake cottage there are lots of trees and open green space for children to play around. Cook up hot dogs or toast marshmallows over the smoldering coals of the grill as you watch fireflies twinkle at dusk.

In North Hero town, pay a stop at Hero's Welcome, a Vermont goods-based shop. Just nine miles away is North Hero State Park where you can spot white-tail deer and ruffled grouse.

Perhaps one day you could get coffee and toast before taking a three-mile walk across the island to brunch at Saint Anne’s Shrine. Or, you could hop in the car and drive over to North Hero town to stock up on local cheeses. You don't really need to hold to a plan - you're on vacation!

Day trips are easy too, with South Hero just 24 miles away and Vermont's biggest city, Burlington, about 45 miles away. The Islands are a popular destination for avid cyclists so grab your bike and go!

Gather your favorite travel buddies for a stay at this Lake Champlain Islands vacation cottage! Up to two family dogs are also welcome here for a small nightly fee.

*Please note that this house draws its water from the lake. We advise bringing bottled water.
